In 2015 I got to play Black Mountain Golf Course, and am finally going ot post my review. My first impression of this course is that it felt very tucked away and exclusive. You drive up the side of the hill/mountain to get to the clubhouse. You do pass some residential buildings along the way, but as you get closer to the course the houses seem to get more luxourious… the first signs of an exclusive area.
The clubhouse was well kept and fairly new looking. It had a good sized proshop and a big restaurant. It was a Thursday morning when we went there, and, while there was other people on the course it was pretty quiet. The price was on the highest end of all the courses we played, with the round costing $95…. However, this price included a cast and a $10 food voucher for the restaurant for after the round, so relatively this wasn't too bad. That being said the power cart is mandatory so you can't get the round cheaper thinking you walk. Plus, this is a long course with a lot elevation changes so you wouldn't want to walk it anyways.
Last summer, while in Kelowna, I got to play Two Eagles Golf Course. I took lots of notes and strokes while playing this one so I could write a review for you guys.
This course is located in West Kelowna (Westbank), which was convenient for us since we were staying near there. It is a shorter course, but not a true par 3 course. There was a big mix of par 3 and par 4s, with a couple of par 5s in the mix. This means, for the most part you won't be using your longer clubs that often, but can still bring them out on a few holes.
As you may or may not know, I am from Alberta, so while we have a lot of nice courses in the area, we don't have any beautiful mountainous courses like that of Sunset Ranch in Kelowna, BC. I have played the semi-mountainous courses before like Brewster's Kananaskis Ranch in Canmore.
Hey Golfers!
We did a little more updating to the site during these winter months. We have added a Rating System to the site! You can now go to your favorite golf course (or any golf course for that matter) and rate the course.
Read on to see how it works!
This summer, and almost every year for that matter, I golf at the Victoria Golf Course in the heart of Edmonton. This course is one of the few owned/run by the City of Edmonton. The other’s include Rundle Park Golf Course and Riverside Golf Course.
There are some things I really like about this course, and some things I wish were different. Check out my my full review of the Victoria Golf Course after the break…
I golfed the well kept 9 hole smoky lake golf course on the weekend and it was a fun little course.
This course is located across the highway (Highway 28) from Smoky Lake. It takes a little over an hour from Edmonton to get there.
As mentioned it is a 9 hole course, but luckily it doesn't feel like a short course. There are a two par 3s, and it is a par 36 course.
I got the chance to check out Hunters Green again earlier this year, and here is my review of some of the things about the course.
First off the course can be tough to get to. You used to be able to access the golf course from both 127st and from 97st, but the city has since changed the overpass on 97st so you must go in the other way. This is a bit of a shame for the course, as they probably lose a lot of traffic due to this.
The course has grown since I last played it. It has matured and is in a lot better shape now.
I got to golf the beautiful Brewster's Kananaskis Ranch Golf Course this past weekend and it didn't disappoint!!
